Did you know that more than 750,000 people in Maryland don’t know where their next meal is coming from? Hunger is a very real problem, and it’s closer to home than many people realize. Your neighbor, your child’s best friend’s parents, your favorite cashier at the grocery store or even your co-worker could be struggling to put food on the table.

Larry & Sons Food Drive
Maryland is one of the nation’s wealthiest states, but 1 in 8 Marylanders is food insecure. Collectively, Maryland residents miss more than 134 million meals every year. Unfortunately, 39% of the people in our area who struggle to buy food earn too much to qualify for state or federal assistance. Those who are unable to qualify for assistance rely on food assistance programs to meet their basic food needs.
At Larry & Sons, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re holding a food drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank from November 1st through November 30th, 2016. We’ll be collecting food throughout the month and donating it to the Maryland Food Bank, which distributes food to needy families throughout the state.
How You Can Help
The Maryland Food Bank needs non-expired, non-perishable foods. While all donations are greatly appreciated, these items are desperately needed:
- Canned protein (chicken, tuna, etc.)
- Peanut butter
- Pasta
- Dried or canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Canned soup
- Shelf-stable, powdered and evaporated milk
- Infant formula
- Breakfast cereal and oatmeal
- Rice
- Nuts and seeds
- Canned or dried beans
As you begin making your Thanksgiving and holiday plans this year, take a moment to consider our less fortunate neighbors. With your donation, we can help end hunger and provide meals for food insecure families throughout Maryland. You can drop your donation off at our office at 20 Hump Road, Hagerstown. Our experts will also accept donations when they visit your home or business for a service call.
