Trenchless and No Dig Technologies in Maryland, Pennsylvania & West Virginia

For decades, the only way to replace a broken sewer line was to dig a massive trench and pull out the entire pipe. For most homeowners, this is a nightmare. The thought of a backhoe tearing up your entire lawn to reach a single pipe is a scary thought. However, modern technology now makes it possible for Larry & Sons to use trenchless pipe replacement methods when your sewer line needs to be swapped out.

If your sewer line needs to be replaced or if you suspect it has a problem, now is the time to give us a call and ask about our trenchless and no dig technologies for your home in Hagerstown, Frederick, MD, or the surrounding areas.

How Trenchless Technology Works

The basic concept behind trenchless pipe replacement is simple. Instead of removing an entire section of pipe through a massive trench, we feed a new pipe into the space occupied by the old pipe. Here is how it works:

Two small pits are dug on either side of the affected pipe. We can pinpoint the exact location of the affected pipe length using our video camera pipe inspection technology to look inside the pipe before any work is done. This process would be completed during an initial inspection of the system before the replacement process begins.

After we identify the location of the damage, we will place the two pits on either side of it and start the process of replacing your pipe. From one end, new pipe will be fed through with a bursting cone on the front to break apart the existing pipe as it passes. On the other end, a winch will pull the pipe through piece by piece as one of our technicians monitor the process.

From start to finish, an entire length of sewer line can be replaced without needing to dig more than those two small holes which can be filled just as easily. There are other trenchless methods for pipe replacement as well, including installation of a new pipe liner that will sit inside of the existing pipe. This method is effective because it provides ample strength for the wall of the pipe, and it is rated to last as long or longer than a standard PVC or copper pipe.

If you are interested in having someone visit your home and inspect your sewer line, now is the time to call the experts of Larry & Sons.
