A broken faucet is, at best, annoying. At worst, it’s a serious problem that can cause all kinds of leaks and water damage. If your faucet is broken, it’s time to call a plumber. The sooner you call us at Larry & Sons, the sooner we can send someone out, figure out what’s gone wrong with your faucet, and get everything in your Mount Airy MD home running again.
Is it Time to Replace My Faucet?
Homeowners don’t always know when it’s time to replace their faucet, especially if they’ve never had to do so before. While faucets can often be repaired, they are relatively inexpensive and it’s often a better deal, financially, to get a new one than it is to repair the old one. Here are some times when we recommend replacing your faucet.
- Your faucet requires repeated repairs. If your faucet keeps breaking, think about replacing it instead of repairing it. Faucets do wear out, over time, and it may just be time to get one that will work well for you, rather than continually dealing with one that breaks all the time.
- Your faucet does serious damage. A leaky faucet can cause all sorts of water damage, especially if the leak is so small that you don’t notice it for a while. Water can build up under and around your sink, causing damage to countertops, floors, and whatever you store under your sink. If your faucet has done this sort of damage, it’s likely going to be cheaper to replace it than to repair it.
- Your faucet has hard water buildup. If you have hard water and don’t use a water conditioner, minerals can build up inside your faucet. This can cause your water flow to diminish, and it can also cause water to shoot everywhere when you turn the faucet on. While these minerals can be removed, doing so can take a bit of time, money, and effort, and your faucet may never be the same again. Instead, get a new one and consider doing something to mitigate the damage hard water can cause.
- You don’t like it. If you don’t like your faucet, for whatever reason, go ahead and get a new one. Installing a new faucet in your Mount Airy MD home isn’t difficult, and it’s probably worth the expense if you really don’t like the one you have. After all, you have to live in your home…you may as well enjoy doing so.
