At Larry & Sons, we are always happy to answer any and all of your questions about your home. Lately, we’ve had quite a few of you ask us about air duct cleaning and, specifically, how often to clean air ducts. Here’s what you need to know.
How Often Should I Clean My Ducts?
Most professionals recommend cleaning your air ducts once a year. This is a good rule of thumb, but it’s not true in all cases. We recommend air duct cleaning in the following situations, regardless of when your last duct cleaning took place.
- You live near a construction zone or you’ve just finished a remodeling project. Construction produces all sorts of dust and debris that can end up in your ductwork.
- You or someone in your family struggles with asthma or allergies inside your home. You may want to talk to your doctor first, but duct cleaning could help them breathe better.
- You can see visible dust and debris through your vent or air intake registers. There’s always more than what you can see from outside the system.
- You’ve found mold or mildew in your HVAC system. If it’s anywhere in the system, it is also in your ducts because all of the air in your home flows through those.
If you have questions about duct cleaning or it’s time to schedule the service, contact us at Larry & Sons today. We’ll send out a skilled HVAC professional to clean your ducts and treat them so they stay clean as long as possible.
