What’s Wrong With My Furnace?
When you realize that your furnace isn’t working, it’s easy to panic. After all, you need your heat on, especially during winter’s coldest days. Instead of worrying, however, check the following items. If one of them is causing your problem, you may be able to fix it fast.
Your Filters are Dirty
Some furnaces are designed to shut down when furnace filters get too dirty. Others will keep going but will struggle. If you haven’t changed your filters in a while, check this first. You should be able to see light through the filter. If you can’t, change it and see if your furnace works any better.
The Pilot Light is Out
You should be able to see a glow from your pilot light. If you can’t, it may have gone out. Most furnaces have instructions for relighting it on an inside or outside panel, though these may be difficult to find. If you can’t find yours, you aren’t comfortable relighting it, or the flame keeps going out, call us at Larry & Sons and we’ll get it going for you again.
The Thermostat Doesn’t Work

If your furnace isn’t working, the problem may be with your thermostat instead. You can try turning it way up to see if that changes how your heater is working. If you suspect thermostat problems, call in our team right away. We have the tools to diagnose these issues fast and we can get you a new thermostat, too!
